I like long walks on the beach, scented…oh, wait! WRONG bio! Born and raised in Winnipeg, what can I say except music and radio have been my true passions in life ever since getting my first AM transistor radio at the ripe old age of eight…powered by a FREE Radio Shack battery I would receive monthly! Not to mention the fact that I spent most of my school years glued to a radio more than learning algebra, as if it was my security blanket! Through the years that would follow, and thanks to something called cassettes, I then found myself spending almost all my spare time making hundreds of mix tapes just from listening to the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40! A HUGE concert buff, I’m pretty sure if they gave Airmiles for every show I’ve seen, I would now have enough to circle the planet first class…four times over!
So far, my claims to fame include having a nationally recognized and nearly syndicated one-hour interview program spotlighting Canadian and international artists; raising over $16,000 in four days to feed people at Christmas by living on the rooftop of a multiplex theatre in -30 degree temperatures; not being able to escape my mugshot in the form of a cartoon caricature on city billboards and buses (lol); and being chased by the RCMP in BC (Yet another stunt for charity!). Biggest thrill would have to be having hundreds of concert goers at Rexall Place in 2014 thinking I resembled Rod Stewart just walking around the concourse prior to his concert, with even the merchandise staff insisting they get a picture with me! (Good thing they’ve never heard me sing!) Ok, I’ll admit I’ve pretty much idolized Rod my entire life, in fact, I actually convinced myself I WAS Rod for most of the 80’s. But after years of research it’s what we have in common that has made me conclude that we might in fact be related. Firstly, we both have British roots, spontaneous sense of humors, highlighted hair that requires hours hanging upside down with a hair dryer, we both believe in the notion of staying ‘Forever Young”, and finally…we both have noses that we prefer to be seen from our left side. (Photographers – you’ve been warned!) Need I say more?
No ‘stranger’ to Capital FM I hope you’ll come along for the ride where I promise to quench your musical taste buds with only the best hits of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, maybe a side order of unpredictable, self-deprecating humour, but mostly a genuine love for allowing me to be in your ear, tweeter, and woofer!
